Campervan Brewery

Campervan Brewery in Leith is a vibrant brand, with a brewery and taproom situated side by side. As part of their renovation and branding updates, Solas Signs was brought in to give their units a fresh face, improve visibility, and enhance the overall presence of the location.

Exterior Signage That Commands Attention

The Tennent Street side of the building is the primary source of passing traffic, making it a critical area for brand visibility. To maximise impact, we focused on creating bold, illuminated exterior signage.

The first element was a large metal tray mounted directly to the side of the building, sprayed in Campervan’s signature red colour. The logo and wording “Campervan Brewery” were applied to contrast strongly against the grey metal façade. This piece delivers impact both during the day and when illuminated at night.

Complementing this, we designed a custom metal-framed projecting sign featuring the Campervan logo, also sprayed in brand red for maximum visual presence. Adding to the richness of the piece, 3D cut letters spelling “Taproom” were suspended from the base, providing an elevated, layered feel that reinforces the brand identity.

At the main taproom entrance, we installed two custom illuminated lightboxes. The first, a borderless lightbox projection from the wall beside the doorway, acts as wayfinding, directing visitors clearly to the entrance. Above the shutter, a large-scale illuminated lightbox with black trim frames the doorway and ensures the branding is immediately visible on approach.

Interior Signage with Character and Playfulness

Inside the taproom, the focus shifted to creating a warm and inviting environment. Beside the log fire, we installed a fun feature sign inspired by Campervan’s cans of beer and Leith Juice branding. This 3D layered design combined multiple processes to build a visually striking installation that adds character without overwhelming the space.

The piece includes a custom-sprayed metal frame can profile with an internally illuminated graphic window. Dual-coloured Perspex sides frame the can, which is bordered with real glass neon in red. This layered approach creates depth and visual interest, while the graphic itself is removable, allowing future updates or redesigns if desired.

A Comprehensive Approach to Brand Elevation

This project highlights how thoughtful signage can elevate a brand’s presence, both externally and internally. By combining large-scale illuminated signs, 3D lettering, neon features, and custom lightboxes, we created a cohesive package that strengthens Campervan Brewery’s identity, guides visitors, and enhances the overall atmosphere of the taproom.
